Christ is ALL

It is in the individual members of the “the body of Christ” that CHRIST IS ALL, and IN ALL.” (Colossians 3:11) By having Christ in us, we have ALL of Him – Father, Son, and Spirit.

“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if [since] Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Romans 8:9-10 (KJV)

How far reaching is this ‘Allness’ that we have by Christ’s indwelling life? First, we possess His Resurrection Life. We have Christ in us, thus John wrote to Israel’s believers, As He Is so are We in this world.”

“Herein is our love made perfect [complete], that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is [the resurrected Christ], so are we [right now] in this world.” (1 John 4:17 (KJV)

For certain Paul knew that we as believers are in union Christ as our life, therefore we already have ALL of Christ in us as our ALL. Christ “Spirit of life” is the fullness of the One Eternal Person of the universe and He has given us His life. “For in him [Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily 10 And YE [as believers with Christ in you] ARE COMPLETE IN HIM, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Col. 2:9-10)

The common misconception among believers today is to think that we must work to become better people, to be improved. But, we as Christ’s living containers have only one function, which is to Bear and Serve His Life … through Living by His “Spirit of life” that Operates in union with our “spirit of man” (cf. 1Cor 6:17), Prompting and Restraining us by the sense of Him from within.

Since we have Him in us as our All, then what we most need to is to ‘KNOW Him IN Us as the new us,’ that we might simply co-operate with His life, yielding to Him as He ‘lives and moves and has His being in us.’ (Acts 17).  So, first we need to “Know him” this awareness comes to us through our daily, common, joint-suffering with Him in us as our strength. Paul’s prayer below is along this line of understanding.

That I may KNOW HIM, and the Power of his Resurrection [life], and the Fellowship of his Sufferings, being made Conformable unto His Death;” (Philippians 3:10 (KJV)

Our sufferings expose our inadequacy in and of ourselves. So, otherwise, we will still try to live by self-effort and self-reliance.

Many such Christians who see their shortcomings don’t really understand that the Christians life does not depend upon them, their self-effort to be right and righteous. They’re not short of the power of His life, but they hindered by their Unwillingness to Letting Go to Let Him Live His Life Spontaneously Through Them. Most believers try to live the Christ life according to the religious standard they learned from religion – so they act independent of Him and His life in them, trying to act as certain way. But His life in us is not something copied – it’s just ‘Him as He IS’ operating within us. The problem is that our religiosity is IN THE WAY of Him simply flowing through us.

Jesus said … Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do…” (Jn. 5:19) Jesus is in John 15 seen in the Bible as ‘the life of the vine.’ There we are seen as ‘a branch in union with the vine’s life. Likewise, we as believers are living vessels through whom He desires to flow His life, both to nourish us and to produce what He wills for us by His spontaneous life-flow.

In the verse below Paul describes the characteristics ofChristas He is indwelling the members of “His body,” His living vessels. Still, many ignorantly pray to have more love or, more power for living the Christian life or, for peace in the midst of life’s situations. We would not pray this way if we truly knew Christ as being Our ALL? Many pray for what they already possess by Christ in them.

“…  Christ the POWER of God, and the WISDOM of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:24 (KJV)

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us WISDOM, and RIGHTEOUSNESS, and SANCTIFICATION [holiness], and REDEMPTION:” (1 Corinthians 1:30)

“And the PEACE of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through [Grk. en, in] Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7 (KJV)

What most lack is the Revelational Knowledge of Him IN US. Thus, Paul wrote; “But ye have not so learned Christ;” (Ephesians 4:20 (KJV) This is not learning about Jesus of Nazareth but learning the operation of Christ as He Operates within and through us, personally. We know that “God is love(1Jn. 4:8), but we still may mistakenly think God gives us love.’ He does not give us love as ‘a piece of Him,rather He has given us the life of the Godhead in Christ, which IS LOVE” along with ALL the other attributes of Christ’s Life.
