Cleansed of ALL Unrighteousness

The very moment we believed to be saved we were washed of all sin and regenerated and we had no part in it except that we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.’

And they said believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house [this offer is unto the members of your household also].” (Acts 16:31 (KJV)

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the WASHING OF REGENERATION, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” (Titus 3:5 (KJV)

Question: How many times can God forgive you of ALL Trespasses”?

That’s right, if its “ALL,” then Only ONCE is needed.

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened [made alive] together with him, Having Forgiven You ALL Trespasses; Colossians 2:13 (KJV)

This is because the phrase “having forgiven you ALL Trespasses” Paul is saying ALL of the grace believer’s unrighteousness, including ALL his sins of the past, present, and future, … have been 100% forgiven forever. This was the very reason for which Christ died on the cross for all of us humans.

For he [God the Father] hath made him [Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; [so] that we might be made the righteousness of God in him [by our union with Christ]. 1Corinthinans 5:21

Yet, some point to Paul’s Romans 3:25, thinking only their “sins of the past” are forgiven. To explain this, we must look into the context of Paul’s words here.

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to Declare His Righteousness for The Remission of Sins That Are Past, through the forbearance [Grk. anoche, self-restraint] of God; Romans 3:25 (KJV)

CONTEXT: We must read Romans 3:25 contextually. Here below is the context of Romans 3:25 and its Remission of Sins That Are Past.”

First, we need to realize that Paul was writing to the Romans about the time of Acts 20 when He was still going “to the Jew first,” as he did throughout the Acts period. Note that just before we come to Romans 3:25 we have this in Romans 2.

9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: Romans 2:9-10 (KJV)

So, Romans 3:25 must be seen in the context of Paul going “to the Jew first” concerning their “sins of the past.” Note also that Paul’s first 6 epistles were written during the Book of Acts and they contain certain information for the benefit of the Jews in particular. The burden of sins upon the Nation of Israel’s sins were the; 1) killing God’s prophets, and 2) then killing the Son of God, and 3) then rejecting the witness of the Holy Spirit by Killing Stephen in Acts 7. Yet, God by His foreknowing of those of Israel who would receive their Messiah. Those of the elect of Israel certainly needed also to gain Paul’s understanding of the Cross as explained in Romans chapters 1-8.

By contrast Paul’s 7 prison epistles of Ephesians through Philemon in you Bible are pure Gentile grace epistles – having no ‘Jew first’ information.

The further context to Romans 3:25 is seen in Romans 3:10, and 23 whereby Paul is explaining how that during the Gentile age of grace that began with Paul as their “pattern” as a recipient of God’s forgiveness and grace in Christ’s Cross (cf. 1Tim. 1:16). Today, in this Gentile age, Lost Jews stand on an equal ground with Lost Gentiles … ALL as Lost Sinners. Thus, Paul wrote;

10 As it is written, There is NONE righteous, no, not one [not even the Jews]: Romans 3:10 (KJV)
23 For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23 (KJV)

Israel had fallen from it elevated standing as God’s special people for a time (cf. Rom. 11:11-12, 25).

We know that Jesus died “for the sins of the world,” dying to reconcile All mankind to God.

14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if [since Jesus Christ as THE] ONE DIED FOR ALL, then were ALL dead: 2 Corinthians 5:14 (KJV)

To those still concerned about their sins AFTER their past, after they were saved, those who still say ‘only our sins of the past’ were forgiven, consider this question;

Just how many of your sins were of Yet “Future” to The Time of JESUS’ DEATH OF THE Cross That Paid for ALL Sins?

That’s right, ALL of Them, and Here Is Why.

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his [Jesus’] own blood he entered in ONCE into the holy place, having obtained eternal [all time] redemption for us. Hebrews 9:12 (KJV)
26 For then must he [Jesus] often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he [Jesus] appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Hebrews 9:26 (KJV)

Paul tells us grace age Gentile believers of Paul’s gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24), Christ Has Fully Paid for ALL Sins of ALL AGES at ALL One Time at The Crossfor ALL PEOPLE. Recall that Jesus says of our reconciliation, redemption, and justification through His shed blood … “it is finished.”

Today ALL that one must do to be saved is… “BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ” in order To APPROPRIATE their personal One-Time full forgiveness of ALL SINS – past, present, and future sins.

Accordingly, Paul and Silas preached this gospel to their ‘prison-keeper’;

And they said BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, and THOU SHALT BE SAVED, and thy house [this offer is unto the members of your household also].” (Acts 16:31 (KJV)

Note Paul and Silas did NOT say,

“Now you are forgiven of past sins…  so, you are now on Probation.” You NOW Have to Be Perfect” in order to STAY SAVED.

Actually, in this regard Paul wrote;

6 As Ye [or, in the same way that ye] Have Therefore Received Christ Jesus the Lord [which was by grace through faith alone], so [likewise] walk ye [daily] in him: Colossians 2:6 (KJV)

So, as we began by grace through faith in the Cross of Christ alone, so we are to conduct our daily walk by grace through faith in the Cross-work of Christ, trusting that Christ’s sacrifice KEEPS US SAVED.

24 Being Justified Freely [being declared righteous without earning it] by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:24 (KJV)

Furthermore, Paul, as seen below, says God today, during this age of “the Grace of God,” NO LONGER IMPUTES or COUNTS THE SINS of GRACE BELIEVERS.

Therefore, BELIEVERS HAVE NO SINS to ‘REPENT OF’ or TO BE FORGIVEN OF!

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham BELIEVED GOD, and It Was COUNTED Unto Him For RIGHTEOUSNESS. 4 Now to him that worketh [to earn and keep salvation] is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt [as if it was earned].

5 But To Him That WORKETH NOT, but BELIEVETH on him [Christ] that justifieth the ungodly, his FAITH IS COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

6 Even [that is] as David also describeth the blessedness of THE MAN, UNTO WHOM GOD IMPUTETH [COUNTS] RIGHTEOUSNESS WITHOUT [GOOD] WORKS, 7 Saying, blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 BLESSED IS THE MAN TO WHOM THE LORD WILL NOT IMPUTE [NOT COUNT] SIN. Romans 4:3-8 (KJV)

By contrast, those of the Nation of Israel while “under the Law” would have to follow Peter’s instructions at Pentecost, when he preached this to “ye men of Israel;

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 (KJV)

Essentially the requirement for and Israelite’s forgiveness was this;

  • He had to Believe, Repent, and
  • Receive John the Baptist’s water “baptism of repentance”
  • in the name of Jesus Christ …
  • for the Remission of Their Sins of;

1) Rejecting God the Father by Killing His prophets,

2) and Killing the Son of God, their Messiah.

 Thankfully, we today are under God’s Pure (100%) Grace for our salvation and to be kept saved.

14 Ye Are Not Under the Law, But Under Grace. Romans 6:14 (KJV)

14 [Jesus died] Blotting Out the Handwriting of Ordinances [The Written Law of Moses] that was against us, which was contrary to us, and Took It Out of The Way, Nailing It to His Cross; Colossians 2:14 (KJV)

We today can simply believe on [trust in] the Lord Jesus Christ.’ (cf. Acts 16:31)
