Dispensational Contrast - Grace vs. Wages or Reward

8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9  Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

From this Scripture we see that “GRACE” is a GIFT. If a man were to receive salvation for his works, then salvation is but another word for “wages,” something earned. If salvation is given because of one’s works, then this is simply a “reward” for performance of works, religious rites or rituals. If a man receives salvation for wages or as a reward, then salvation is NOT a GIFT but something one was entitled to, therefore this is NOT GRACE.

Neither is GRACE something given to us to help us keep the LAW… GRACE is UNDESERVED MERCY.

The Source of GRACE of God’s LOVE.

16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have (His) everlasting  life. John 3:16 (KJV)

The Channel of God’s GRACE is JESUS CHRIST.

17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. John 1:17 (KJV) 11  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Titus 2:11 (KJV)

The instrument of Grace is FAITH. “by grace are ye saved through faith” (Eph 2:8a). This is NOT faith in a thing, as a good deed that we have done but faith in the Person of JESUS CHRIST.

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us… Titus 3:5a (KJV)

Thus we see the difference between the Works of the LAW and pure GRACE.
