Part 1 – “In the World You Shall Have Tribulation” John 16:33

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called God’s Explanation and Remedy for the Present State of ‘Distress on the Earth’.

In the USA we have largely enjoyed great security most of my lifetime, but long-ago Jesus promised this below to His Jewish disciples, and it applies to the believers of all ages.

These things I [Jesus] have spoken unto you, [so] that in me ye might have peace. In the world [Grk. cosmos, the present arrangement of the universe] Ye Shall Have Tribulation (Grk. thlipsis, pressure, trouble): but be of good cheer; I [Jesus] have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 (KJV)

The facts are as Paul wrote of concerning “this present evil age.”

Who [Christ] Gave Himself For Our Sins, that he might deliver us from This Present Evil World, according to the will of God and our Father:” (Galatians 1:4 (KJV)

Having been immersed in Paul’s wisdom, we as believers have come to know ‘what time is it’ in God’s timeline of the ages as we press toward the end of all ages and our eternal destiny.

“… Knowing The Time, that now It Is High Time to Awake Out Of Sleep: for now is our salvation [to heaven] nearer than when we [1st] believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in [sexual] chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14 (KJV)

Obviously, if you are awake you know that the whole world “lies in the evil one [in Satan’s grip]” (1John 5:19). Yet, the Lord has the remedy for us to endure the happenings of this world, victoriously.

Recently I was speaking to a resident of the retirement community where I live in Florida, who seemed somewhat distraught due to all that he sees going on in the USA and the world today. Many see the pandemic and literal disintegration of our society  and its social fabric that was built upon the Judeo-Christian ideals. He was thankful but fearful that we are losing the U.S. constitutional protections that give us the security and freedoms that the world had never seen before us. All these troubles are to be expected as noted above in what Jesus said “In the world Ye Shall Have Tribulation,” meaning “pressure.”  The result is anxiety rooted in uncertainty and insecurity that is manifest itself in the symptoms of ‘stress.’

Along with these worldly secular matters of corruption, Christendom itself over the past 75 years has largely become corrupt and impotent since it has apostatized from ‘the truth of God’s word. That is that Christendom has mostly been reduced to meaningless ambiguities, equivocation, the practice of evasion, shifting, deceiving and being deceived by its leaders of all stripes, while trying to be ‘popular’ and have big crowds. Otherwise also, the denominations are dwindling due to the same abandonment of the powerful truths found in Paul’s epistles as they apply to this age of the grace of God.

Most Christian denominations have largely forsaken the truth of Paul’s “the Gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24), which was given to Paul for us Gentiles, to STABILIZE’ believers in the face of ‘the trials of life.’

On occasion I have confronted some religious leaders, one on one, with related questions and received no suitable answers. You too could pointedly ask questions of your pastors, teachers or leaders of today’s manmade Christian religious organizations looking for a clear unequivocal gospel of God’s loving grace while also addressing the matter of our sins, judgment, and salvation, such as Paul taught. In answer they would most likely dissemble offering platitudes but not real Bible based answers. There would be no solid Bible based dispensational answers from them that would apply to us today because they do not know and respect Paul as the one unique Apostle to the Gentiles with the answers for a time such as this.

It’s comforting to know God and His eternal plan still has not changed or conform to man’s ‘every wind religious doctrine’ that becomes the fad, or to accommodate the new secular fads and norms of theworld.’ Paul here tells us how we can become established,” being grounded securely in ‘the faith’ of Paul’s “gospel of the grace of God” that he received from Jesus directly (cf. Gal 1:12).

“Now to him [Jesus] that is of power to stablish you according to my [Paul’s] gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery [God’s secret plan], which was kept secret since the world began, 26 But now is made manifest [unveiled] …” (Romans 16:25-26a)

Paul’s “gospel” with its “Revelation of the Mystery [Grk, musterion, The Secret Plan of God]” was first received by Paul directly from the ascended Lord Jesus in heaven… for us Gentiles. It had been hid in God” “since the world [time] began. That ‘mystery/secret’ was the full meaning and purpose of God in the Cross of His Son that Christ revealed to Paul AFTER the Cross and AFTER Israel had fallen to be “cast away” for a time while Paul was used to usher in today’s age of Grace for “the Gentiles.” (cf. Rom. 11:10-11, 12, 15, 25).

All genuine believers, of all races can be securely saved ‘by faith in the good news of Paul’s “gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24). Paul proclaims Christ Crucified for us and coming again, by which we are saved ‘once and for all time’ … unto eternity in heaven. We can never to be lost again. Thus, we look for His soon coming.

“For our conversation [citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also We Look for The Saviour, The Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious [resurrection] body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. Philippians 3:20-21 (KJV)
