Part 2 – The Apostle of “Grace” and the “Dispensation of the Grace of God”

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Those ‘Little Foxes’ Still Loose in the Church Today.

1. First, we must note the significant contrast among the Apostles mentioned in the New Testament; 1) as to whom they are sent and 2) as to which of the two gospels in the New Testament they preached. These questions are answered just below.

7 But contrariwise [as opposites], when they saw that ‘the gospel of the uncircumcision [Gentiles]was committed unto me [Paul], as the gospel of the circumcision [Israel] was unto Peter;

8 (For he [the Lord] that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision [Israel], the same was mighty in me [Paul] toward the Gentiles:) 9  And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they [the Members of the Messianic Jerusalem council of Acts 15] gave to me [Paul] and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen [Gk. ethnos, the Gentiles], and they [the Twelve] unto the circumcision [Israel]. Galatians 2:7-9 (KJV only)

  • Note here below how that Jesus of Nazareth Himself in His earthly ministry had come only to “the lost sheep of the house of ISRAEL (Matt. 15:24)

“… Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision [Israel] for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers [of Israel]:” (Romans 15:8 (KJV)

24 But he [Jesus] answered and said, I [Jesus] am not sent but [only] unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matthew 15:24 (KJV)

Jesus likewise sent “the Twelve Apostles” (not Paul) exclusively to “the lost sheep of the house of ISRAEL (Matt 10:5-6).

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go NOT into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But Go Rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matthew 10:5-6 (KJV)

8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision [Israel]…

  • By contrast, Paul is “THE [the one] Apostle TO THE GENTILES(Rom. 11:13).

13 For I [Paul] speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am ‘the’ [singular, one] apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify [honor] mine office: Romans 11:13 (KJV)

Paul, as “THE Apostle to the Gentiles,” fully instructs us as members of the Gentile “Church, which is His body” (Eph. 1:22b-23a, cf. 3:1-5) concerning our intimate, fully blessed, all- sufficient relationship with Christ who is so close at hand … that He dwells in us. Paul in His epistles educate us and instructs us in our Biblical world view and how we should live our Christian lives in such a corrupt fallen world (age). Paul explains our inheritance and the sufficiency of Christ in us as our all, encouraging us to enjoy “the riches the inheritance” we’ve been endowed with in our union with Christ.

2. A second important point to look at is the importance of and broad scope of “grace.” It’s interesting to observe that the four Gospels and Acts take up twice as much space in our Bible as the Apostle Paul thirteen epistles, yet, the word “grace” in the KJV appears only 3 times in the Gospels and 10 times in the Acts, while it occurs 91 times in Paul’s epistles to “the church.” Paul always preached His “gospel of the grace of God” (Act 20:24). Very few times in the ‘Gospels’ and Acts is the grace in view.

Yet, in Paul’s epistles almost every grace reference has to do with the doctrine of God’s love, blessing, and favor expressed by HisGrace Freely extended to undeserving sinners and believers alike.

“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” Romans 3:24 (KJV)

Thes Pauline doctrines we enjoy are not laws but rather truths that establish us in the very basis of “the faith” and key for our ‘fully blossomed grace relationship’ with the Lord.

25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my [Paul’s] gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, Romans 16:25 (KJV)

25  Whereof I [Paul] am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you [Gentiles], to fulfil [Gk. pleroo, complete] the [written] word of God; 26 Even [that is] the mystery which [that is revealed in Paul’s epistles] hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints [all believers]: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ IN YOU, the hope of glory [glory = the fully blossomed expression of His life]: Colossians 1:27 (KJV)

Christians should know, stand upon, and proclaim these Holy Spirit inspired Pauline facts and doctrinal truths that are for the members of “the body of Christ” today. Trusting in these truths will establish us stedfastly, and keep us in the face of persecution, sickness, and death. Any of those little foxes” of untruth we are discussing, which are commonly taught in most of the religious organization of man, which are contrary to the truth, will hinder our faith such that we will not be able to handle this life on earth in rest and peace.
