Part 2 - The “New Jerusalem”

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Who is The Bride of Christ?.

The “New Jerusalem,” that “Holy City” as it is also called, both represents and contains “the Bride.”  Who exactly are its inhabitants. The Word says Holy City’s inhabitants will be a distinct household of resurrected believers of Israel who were designated as Overcomers’: people of superior faith and obedience. They will be rewarded with a “better resurrection” (Heb. 11:35). This will characterize all the inhabitants of “the New Jerusalem.”

The “City [New Jerusalem]” will come down to “the New Earth” to be the exclusive habitation of the faithful believers of Israel. Abraham, for instance, had “the Land” assured as an inheritance, but as an overcomer, he looked higher and waited for “the heavenly city as his reward. There is no doubt that this refers to the believers Israel that came out of Abraham’s loins, as what Paul calls “the Israel of God” (Gal. 6:16), not the apostate fallen Nation of Israel. Paul here writes of the fall of Israel, Apostate Israel

“Let their [Israel’s] eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. 11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their FALL salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Now if the FALL of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them [Israel] the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?” (Romans 11:10-12 (KJV)
“For if the casting away of them [Israel] be the reconciling of the world [Gk. cosmos, the heaven and the earth], what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?” (Romans 11:15 (KJV)
“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part [temporarily] is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in [at the Rapture].” (Romans 11:25 (KJV)

To properly understand the Bible, it’s imperative that know that there are

  • TWO’ distinct spheres of blessings, for the
  • TWO’ different families of God’s believers

… who will ultimately and eternally inhabit and co-reign with Christ in their promised ‘sphere’ of the cosmos, which includes the TWO spheres of “the heavens and the earth”;

  • ONE sphere for the believers of Israel “on earth and
  • ONE sphere for “the Church, which is His Body“in the heavens.”

So, Biblically, there are two’ spheres to be eternally occupied by God’s assigned believers:

  • The Millennial kingdom on earth and the “New Earth are to be eternally occupied by the believers) of the Nation Israel, that is Jesus’ “little flock” of Luke 12:32.
  • The “New Heaven” is to be eternally occupied by the individual members “the body of Christ.”

So, Biblically, there are two’ quite different families with ‘two’ different relationships with two’ different eternal callings:

  • “The Lamb’s wife” will inhabitants of “the New Jerusalem” co-reigning with Christ eternally, on the coming New Earth.”

“And hast made us [Israel] unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” (Rev. 5:10)
“Blessed and holy is he [of Israel] that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” (Rev. 20:6)

  • But beforehand, more than 1,000 years before Israel is to co-reign on earth with Christ, “the church which, is His Body” will have been raptured and taken up its eternal habitation, co-reigning with Christ in “the heavenly places … in Christ.” (Eph. 1:3, Phili. 1:20. 2Cor. 5:1b, 2 Tim. 2:12)

If we suffer [endure with Him and by Him while on earth], we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us [such opportunity to co-reign with Him]:” (2 Timothy 2:12) – yet all the raptured members of “His body” will be eternally saved.
