The Apostle to the Gentiles, Paul, says Christian members of “the body of Christ” today live under “the dispensation of the grace of God” (Eph 3:2). and that they are “NOT under the Law.”

“… for ye are not under “the law”, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14b).

Paul says God’s laws, commandments and “ordinances” were “against us” but now they have been “taken out of the way” when Christ “nailed them” to His cross.

“And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), [God] brought to life together with [Christ], having [freely] forgiven us ALL our transgressions, ¹⁴ HAVING CANCELLED AND BLOTTED OUT AND WIPED AWAY THE HANDWRITING OF THE NOTE (BOND) WITH ITS LEGAL DECREES AND DEMANDS which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] HE SET ASIDE AND CLEARED COMPLETELY OUT OF OUR WAY BY NAILING IT TO [HIS] CROSS. “ (Colossians 2:14 AMP)

Actually, God’s written laws recorded in the Old Testament of the Bible were given to Moses (Jn 1:17a) for “the house of Israel” (Acts 7:42 and 53). The Mosaic laws were Not given to the Gentiles or “the church, which is His body.” In contrast with Moses ministry to Israel alone, the ascended Christ saved Paul to be the “Apostle to the Gentiles (Rom 11:13). He was saved and sent by with the unique message of “the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24) to the predominantly Gentile “body of Christ” (Eph 3:1-5).

Paul says all mankind innately knows of God and they’re “without excuse”

Romans 1:19-21 Because that which may be known of God is manifest IN THEM (the Gentiles); for GOD HATH SHEWED IT UNTO THEM. ²⁰For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that THEY ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE: ²¹Because that, when THEY KNEW (ginosko, perceived) GOD, they glorified (doxazo, esteemed) him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

ALL mankind, including the Gentiles who “have not the (Mosaic) Law,” have knowledge of “the LAW written in their hearts.” This knowledge is the “natural law” that came to mankind by Adam partaking of “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil.” Every person’s conscience “accuses or excuses” him; indicating “the law” is “written in their hearts” and innately operates to convict men in the “conscience.”

Romans 2:14-15 For when the Gentiles, which have not “the Law”, do (try) by nature the things contained in “the Law”, these, having not “the Law”, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of “the Law” WRITTEN IN THEIR HEARTS, their CONSCIENCE also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Aside from God’s law, we’ve all lived under what I call “the law of our parents Law, a meritorious law.” Their law included things that may have been required for us to gain acceptance or even love, etc. Thus, we’ve never known genuine unconditional love, apart from God whose love is freely given to all men.

Those who are “of the works of “the Law” consider themselves to have their worth to God measured by the works they think they must do in order to earn God’s favor. Paul says such people bear the “curse” of “the Law” – the curse is having to keep ALL the Laws, or suffer the consequence.

Gal 3:10 For as many as (Gk. hosos, whosoever) are OF the works of “the Law” are under the curse: for it is written, CURSED is every one that continueth not in ALL things which are written in the book of “the Law” to do them.

Thankfully, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of “the Law.” Gal.3:13 CHRIST HATH REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW, being made a curse for us...
