Part 3 – “the Marriage Supper of the Lamb”

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Who is The Bride of Christ?.

All this brings to mind the question as to what exactly is “the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?”  Does “the Marriage Supper of the Lamb” involve “the Church,” “the Body of Christ” eating a meal with Jesus Christ in heaven, as is frequently assumed by many religious people?

To answer this, we must allow “the Spirit of God” to reveal the truth from the Holy Scriptures. The term “the Marriage Supper of the Lamb” is found only once in our King James Bible as seen here.

“And he [The Angel] saith unto me [John], Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” (Revelation 19:9)

Clearly, “the Lamb” is Jesus Christ per Revelation 5, and someone is marrying Him. As with the Jewish marriages of Bible days, there is a “supper” involved as well. Exactly what is this “supper?” The Book of Revelation is a Jewish book, fulfilling prophecy concerning the Nation Israel and Israel’s involvement the Tribulation, 2nd coming, Millennial Kingdom, and the eternal “Kingdom of heaven” to come on the “new earth.”

Let’s read from Revelation 19:

7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints [the sanctified, set-apart, believers of Israel]. 9And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”

From Revelation 19:11 on we read about Jesus Christ’s return to Earth in power and glory at the end of the Tribulation in order to establish His earthly kingdom.

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he [the Lord Jesus] that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” (Revelation 19:11)

We can now skip to verse 17, to begin reading about Armageddon battle of the Tribulation period and the “supper” as it relates to the end of the Tribulation and establishing His Kingdom.

17I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven [the sky], Come and gather yourselves together unto The Supper of The Great God; 18That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

19And I saw the beast [Antichrist], and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him [Jesus Christ] that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20And the beast [Antichrist] was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast [Antichrist], and them that worshipped his [Antichrist’s] image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone [as its first occupants).21And the remnant (of men) were slain with the sword of him [Jesus Christ] that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth [His words]: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh” [quite a meal].

The “Marriage Supper of the Lamb is certainly not a meal for Christians to have in heaven. Actually, it is quite a graphic event on the earth; it is the violent end of Satan’s reign over the Earth!

Also, called “the Supper of the Great God,” it is when Jesus Christ literally feeds the birds of the sky with the flesh of His now-defeated enemies! All of the armies of the Antichrist, the opposing armies who are Israel’s enemies, will have been vanquished when Jesus returns with His mighty angelic armies. These fowls of heaven” are the carnivorous birds, who will “supper” as they eat the carcasses of those men gathered against Israel [His betrothed bride] to destroy her, but now they are to be destroyed and devoured.

Jesus Christ has come to marry Israel as His “wife.” To celebrate that occasion, He invites all of the fowls of heaven to devour the flesh of His now-slain foes. It will be a celebration that Israel and the earth are now JEHOVAH’S again. Satan and his minions will have been removed and confined to the bottomless pit and cast alive into a lake of fire.” The believing remnant of Israel, His “little flock,” will be forgiven, redeemed, justified, sanctified, and made right in His sight thanks to Christ’s cross-work and be married to the Lamb.”

Note how God’s intention in creating Adam was originally to Replenish, Subdue… Have Dominion” on earth (Gen. 1:28). So, Israel will move into her full homeland, the “Promised Land,” to stay forever. JEHOVAH will be married to Israel AND to the Land forever – never to be separated again!
