Part 4 - A Change as the "Signs" Stopped

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Deliverance from Suffering.

We should note that these "signs" began to wane or diminish from the moment of the stoning of Stephen in Acts 7, and fully stopped at Acts 28:28. At that time God fully turned from Israel to the Gentiles (Acts 13:46, Acts 28:28 Rom 11:25). With God's turning to the Gentiles, the focus of God turned from offering of the Messianic Kingdom to Israel – the offering had then passed, at least for an specified time period. The offer of the Kingdom had passed away from Israel – as it were on "strike three." Strike #1 had occurred when Israel's rejected of God in the OT, killing His prophets. Strike #2 occurred when Israel rejected the Messiah, Jesus, in the Gospels, and Strike #3 occurred when Israel's leaders rejected the Holy Spirit's witness via Stephen (Act 7:51), who the Jews then stoned to death. Israel was out and now "the body of Christ" was in. The "the body of Christ" consists of those who were Gentile and Jew, now without distinction – every man is now on an equal footing – all are one in Christ's body (Gal 3:28).

The age had turned. It brought in a new dispensational relationship for believers. Relationship with God was now to be based upon being born of God the Father's Seed (Christ( Gal 3:16, 1Peter 1:23). This relationship depended upon the grace and mercy of God, apart from works of the law. Now the believer simply receives the salvation of God by receiving the person of indwelling "spirit of life in Christ Jesus" (Rom 8:2, Col 1:25-27, 2Tim 4:22) by faith alone. Acts 16:31 (AMP) And they answered, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ [give yourself up to Him, take yourself out of your own keeping and entrust yourself into His keeping] and you will be saved, [and this applies both to] you and your household as well.

Simultaneously, the believer is engulfed, immersed, baptized into "the body of Christ" (1Cor 12:13). 1 Corinthians 12:13 (KJV) For by one Spirit are we all baptized (immersed) into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. This "dry" baptism is the only baptism for today, under Paul's mystery gospel. Ephesians 4:5 (KJV) One Lord, one faith, one baptism, This baptism into Christ's body is invisible. Now, Jewish "water baptism" is out.
