Part 5- Proof that You Are Saved

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Sometimes Believing in Jesus Doesn't Save.

The Bible does give proof to every saved person… to know that they are saved. First, this is found in the “power” of the words of the gospel. Then the ‘witness of the Holy Spirit within the newly saved believer’s spirit’ confirms such salvation.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the ‘power (Gk. dunamis) of God unto (Gk. eis, toward or unto) salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Rom. 1:16).

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” (Romans 8:16).

Thus, hearing the real “gospel of Christ” comes to us with the ‘Power’ to save usand we inwardly Know we are saved! We may not yet know all that there us for us in terms of the details, but we know we are saved.

If we test some people’s ideas of salvation against the real “gospel of our salvation” they can see if they saved or not. I’m not the judge of anyone’s soul, but in using God’s “word of truth,” which we’ve already discussed, we can evaluate one’s salvation in the following cases.

  • If you say you have no proof of salvation, you likely are Not saved.
  • If you think that nobody can know for sure that they are saved, then you are not saved.
  • If you say your proof is seen in the good way you live your life, then you don’t yet understand that the true “gospel of the grace of God” does not require you to merit salvation.
  • If you say your proof is in the promises of Jesus to Israel as seen in the four Gospel, you are claiming Israel’s gospel, which is not yours.
  • If you say your proof is in what you’ve done or not done, said or not said, then you’re not saved.

These answers are all contrary to the truth of “the gospel of the grace of God.”

So, lacking substantial Biblical proof, then on what basis can one know they are saved? Do you see now that many are likely not saved at all?

Actually, rather than needing to be convinced by Scripture that one is saved, they need to hear the true gospel of “the gospel of the grace of God” and receive the power of God unto salvation” to open your eyes to its truth.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and (perceptively) hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

FACT:

We cannot save ourselves or make ourselves worthy enough for God to save us. Salvation is not for the self-righteous or good because; there is none righteous andall have fallen short” of God’s glorious standard. (Rom. 3:10). Salvation is freely offered to the lost, the humbled, the unrighteous, godless, and ungodly. It is God’s ‘prevenient grace’ that does the work of readying us to hear and receive His Gospel… by humbling us and convicting our hearts of our wretchedness and deep need of a Savior.

We are saved only if we believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered (up) for our offences, and was raised again for (As Proof Of) Our Justification.” (Rom. 4:24-25).

These are the elements of “the gospel of (concerning) Christ”; this is “the preaching of the cross” … Jesus Christ was God in the flesh and He did everything necessary to save us through His death and resurrection. Salvation is not produced by our efforts at all, but by power of God, in that when Christ died for our sins He was Resurrected from The Dead.

“For I (Paul) delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

His resurrection is our first proof of salvation…  then, saved believers have the inner witness of the peace with Godwithin them.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:1)

“…the gift of God is (the) eternal life through (Gk. en, in) Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

We know that we are saved because Christ not only died for our sins, but as proof of who He was, He rose from the dead. God offers salvation freely to all who believe (trust) in the ‘Resurrected Christ.’

We need to stop trusting in our prayers, our works, our good deeds, rituals, or feelings in order to trust in the finished work of Christ’s Cross and resurrection alone… to then know that we are saved.

Sadly, in this series we have the explanation as to why so many ‘supposed believers’ show no evidence or joy of salvationthey likely are Not Saved at all. They’ve never been regenerated by “the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.”

The Lord knows the hearts, but it’s obvious that many who claim to be Christians are simply not genuine believers and so, not saved. Today, the power of “the word” of “the gospel” and the the preaching of the cross” have been largely set aside for the emphases of manmade Religion’s sectarian organizational interest.’

Nobody can be saved but by God’s grace and then faith in Cross-work and Resurrection of Jesus Christ… Alone!
