Martin Luther

Anniversary of the Reformation

October 31, 2017 is the 500-year anniversary of the Protestant reformation, the truth of which are those upon which we today stand to enjoy the love, grace, and salvation of God. The date was October 31, 1517; the location was Wittenberg, Germany. This day would be pivotal in the great Reformation. On this day Martin Luther, a Catholic Augustinian monk and university lecturer, nailed his listed Ninety-Five Theses to the door of the Castle Church. From that day, great theological changes – necessary changes ensued as the Reformation grew.

Part 2 of 12 – The Reformers

My intention here is to present some of the history of Christianity that brought the Reformer’s “Five Solas” to the fore. The Reformers message led the world out of what has been referred to as the “dark ages,” the time when that the “light” of God’s Word was hid. The Lord has been recovering the truths of Paul’s “gospel of the grace of God” (Act 20:24) from the time of the Reformers of the 14th-16th centuries.
