The False Teachings of our Day

The prevailing false teachings we see in the church at large today have grown over my 45 years as a believer. We see them purported particularly among the so-called charismatic sects, but these lies have permeated virtually all sectors of the church at large. These ideas have now in the last 40 years or so been picked up by what I call the neo-fundamentalist who seek money and numbers, rather than walking in obedience to the true "gospel of the grace of God" and "preaching Christ" as came to us by "Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles" (Rom 11:13).

These errors and gross misrepresentations of truth most often carry with them ideas that elevate man and slander God. There are many money related lies widely taught by television corrupt preachers using the word of God deceitfully, and then also by the money grubbers of the local churches.

Some of these teachings listed below are blatantly false, misrepresent truth, some are unbiblical and/or undispensational; "undispensational" meaning they aren't applicable today under the gospel Jesus gave Paul for us. The "gospel of the grace of God" is delivered to us by Paul and applying in the church age, which will end with the Rapture of "the body of Christ." Then the Lord will turn His attention to Israel and fulfill ALL prophesy applying top Israel and the restoration of the kingdom on earth at the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ.

These below are some of the common erroneous teachings perpetrated upon the people of God today.

  • Old Testament Promises to Israel apply to the church today:
  • There is only one gospel presented in the Bible;
  • Jesus suffered in hell and battled Satan;
  • God can't do nothing unless we pray it first;
  • Believers can "speak into existence" anything they want for their selves or others;
  • We can command Satan;
  • Jesus was actually rich;
  • Giving our money to men's ministries is "seed faith";
  • God wants us to be rich monetarily;
  • If we are sick or poor, its because we lack faith;
  • There are three gods; and on and on and on they go.

Some of these errors listed above have some semblance of a basis for Israel in the Millennial Kingdom that is yet to come, but those not for us "today."

"Today" is the Gentile age and that's why Paul, was uniquely given the "gospel of grace" to bring to "ye Gentiles" (Eph 3:1-5), to the "uncircumcision" (the non-Israeli's, Gal 2:7).

By use of the word "today" I strike the key to correctly understanding the Bible. "Today" we live under "the dispensation of the grace of God" (Eph 3:2) that bears a different gospel than that which was given to Israel by Jesus and 'the twelve."

Jesus said He came only to "the lost sheep of the house of Israel" only (Matt 15:24), as the "minister of the circumcision (Israel)" (Rom 15:8). Jesus preached and proclaimed the "gospel of the kingdom" that was long promised to Abraham's natural seed.

Thus Jesus spoke these words to His disciples.

"These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go NOT into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." (Matthew 10:5-6 (KJV)

 Jesus gave His Apostles a clear mandate to "NOT" bring this "gospel of the kingdom" to "the Gentiles," but to "go rather unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (read Matt 10:5-6).

Thus, some of these errors listed above have some semblance of a basis under the "gospel of the circumcision" (Gal 2:7) that was given to Peter and "the twelve" for Israel only. That gospel speaks of the fulfillment of the numerous Old Testament prophesies pertaining to "the Kingdom" age. The kingdom is yet to come with the Millennial reign of Christ on earth immediately following His 2nd coming to earth, in which Israel will co-reign with Christ (Rev 5:10, 20:6).

These destructive errors come to be when we marginalize the Apostle Paul and don't "rightly divide the word of God" (2Tim 2:15) as instructed by Paul. Then we would readily see that these promises to Israel have no foundation of truth in the Word of God for "us today" as "the body of Christ."

None of these falsehoods are found in the truth of "the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20:24) that the ascended Jesus gave Paul to deliver to us "today" as members of the mainly Gentile "church which is His body" (Eph 1:22b-23a).

These awful errors serve to destroy the faith of the believers today and bring them back under "the law" when actually they, as Paul says, are "NOT under the Law" (Rom 6:14a). Sadly, believers today are kept from the unadulterated simple truth that the riches of Christ's "Spirit of life" indwells every believers spirit (Rom 8:9-10, Col 1:27, 1 Cor 6:17) and He is their ALL sufficient new life now and forever (Col 2:9-10).

Frankly, its no wonder the church is so pathetic, with the people so weak and confused.
