Forgiven and Forgiving Freely

When asking for forgiveness, many say “Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?” But that's looking for forgiveness in the wrong place! “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked (Jer. 17:9). Any forgiveness that someone may find in the world of lost deceived self-seeking hearts, it likely to come with conditions or strings attached… not extended freely.

Forgiveness Under Paul's “The Gospel of the Grace of God”

The Apostle Paul wrote: "We… are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake" (2 Cor. 4:11). There is much that we all do for our own sake, for the sake of our children, our loved ones or others, but the real test of the believer's love for the Lord is what he does "for Jesus' sake."

Under the dispensation "of Law." which continued even during Jesus' earthy ministry to Israel (Matt 5:18), our Lord told His disciples that to be forgiven they must FIRST forgive:

Only Sinners Can Be Saved

Most of us know we have some defects but we innately hate to admit we are "sinners." But only admitted sinners can be forgiven of their sins and saved through faith in Christ alone.

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief” (I Tim. 1:15).
