Functioning of the Members of the One "Body of Christ"

Whose body is "the body of Christ"?

It is Christ's "body" of which He is "the HEAD." He is "the LORD" (Gk. kurious, governor) of His own body.

15  (we)... may grow up into (in) him in all things, which (who) is The Head, even (that is) Christ: Ephesians 4:15

Christ Himself directs each member of "the body" by His indwelling "Spirit of Life" that operates in and governs in each member individually. His instruction, burden, and power flows from Him as "the HEAD"... of "the body."

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 1 Corinthians 12:21

Christ as "the Head" of "the body of Christ" works in and through each individual member... as He wills, just as our human head has its brain and central nervous system by which they direct the functioning of all our body parts.

13 For it is GOD WHICH WORKETH IN YOU both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13

The ascended Lord Jesus Christ directly first gave the Apostle Paul the knowledge of the Gentile "body of Christ" and Paul has much to say as to how the body functions. This is why the verses seen in this paper are all what some may call "Pauline."

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular (Gk., meros, in your individual portion). 1 Corinthians 12:27

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12

Each member of the body of Christ has its own particular function just as a foot does as opposed to that of a hand. We ought not question that function in another member of Christ's body. Neither should we impose our function upon another member of "the body of Christ." The Lord is the Lord of every member just as He is our Lord.

18 And HE (CHRIST) IS THE HEAD OF THE BODY, the church...; that in all things he (Christ) might have the preeminence (be First, as the Lord of His body). Colossians 1:18

6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 1 Corinthians 3:6-7

Yes, we may study and learn of Bible truth from the teachers and elders of the church... but we have no need of another to instruct us as to what we should and should not do. This is because... we literally have "the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" directing us from within our own spirit.
