Why Believe In Jesus?

Some say:

“Yes, I believe in God, but I'm not sure about Jesus.”

There are many different religions in the world that encourage their followers to believe in a God that created and sustains the universe and has given some form of law or rules to live by.

The difference with Christianity is that we believe no one can ever be good enough to know God because we can never fully keep God's rules.

It is good that one believes in God, but that alone is not what saves.

We all possess and inner moral awareness and so we know we have come short of God’s standard and this is called sin.

The question that is most often unspoken is this; “I believes in God and recognize His perfectness in creation and in His nature, and I know that I am not perfect… what can I do about my sins and my propensity to sin?

This is where Jesus comes in. God knew we could not be good enough for Him, so He sent His Son into the world as a human being to save us from the burden of our sins. That’s why we must believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. The name “Jesus’ means savior. He lived a perfect live, following God's rules completely and perfectly, so we know what a human life is like when God is fully revered and obeyed. He spoke God's truth so that we know what we should believe and obey.

He then died on the cross in our place for the wrong we have done against God, because death is the punishment we deserve. Because he died instead of us on the cross, our punishment has taken place and God will not punish those sins again. Jesus then rose from death and has returned to heaven, and He now gives a spiritually new life to all who believe in him. He also, with His Father, has sent the Holy Spirit to help his followers live this new life and experience God's love and help personally.

We still sin because, although our hearts are changed, we are not set free from temptation in this world. However, our experience of God's love through the Holy Spirit is a kind of guarantee that if we die before Jesus returns, we will on that day raised from death ourselves to live forever without sin in a universe God will recreate to be perfect.

Jesus said "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, so that where I am, you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know."

Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You go, and how can we know the way?"

Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me". (John 14:1-6).

All other religions teach that if you are good you will go to be with God. Christianity teaches that you can never be good enough but Jesus was good for you, to make a way for us to be right in the sight of God.

Trust is believing something to be true and acting upon it.

The Bible says “if you confess (profess) the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

This form of trust usually brings with it a feeling of peace with God and confidence that the gospel is true.

The question for you is this: do you trust that Jesus is who he says he is? Are you willing to confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that he was raised from the dead for the forgiveness of your sins? Are you willing to trust him with your life?
