Most believers should know the most basic Christian doctrine… that Christ, in grace, fully bore the death penalty for them at the cross.

In strong language the Apostle bids Timothy to “charge some that they teach no other doctrine”; no other doctrine, obviously, than that which Paul had taught them. In 1 Tim. 6:3-5 he closes his epistle by saying: “If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ (to Paul)… from such withdraw thyself.”
